Stray dogs are plenty in Taiwan. It’s very common to see them on the streets in the major cities including Taichung, as well as in the mountains that we hike. I have yet to come across a stray dog that was threatening. In fact the majority of the people here are very sympathetic to them and will leave food or even some type of bedding for them. The most common breed is usually a black Labrador mix.
This fella with soft dark eyes resides on the grounds of Moceour, a wedding catering complex in the mountains nearest to Taichung. For the second week in a row after reaching this morning’s bike destination, I was resting and he came up to me again to take a picture with me with his tail wagging feverishly.
